When You Were Here

When you were here,
I cared for you,
laid at your side and watched you rest.
There was nothing I wouldn't give.

When you were here,
I clung to you,
giving you the best of my heart.
I promised you I'd never leave.

When you were here,
I gave you my words,
“I love you” too many times and more.
I never stopped uttering love letters.

When you were here,
I held you close.
Sadness and discouragement were kept at bay.
My heart became a spring for your joy.

When you were here.

Oh this is quite powerful and resonates with quite strongly. Lovely sentiment of dedication and affection. I like.
