When You Make Friends With a Poet

When you make friends with a poet
the conversation will start to rhyme,
slowly but surely you won’t realize it;

Whimsical heat warms the wintertime
swirling into a fantasy you free fall,
see white daisies and hear wind chimes;

Colors of their prose find you enthralled
catching words soft as cashmere leaves,
refrains you repeat and easily recall;

Suddenly nothing you cannot achieve,
in yourself a poet will make you believe.

Well-done, Melani. I especially enjoyed your choice of rhymes. What a nice tribute to poets and their impact on their friends.
