When You Lay Down To Sleep
When you lay down to sleep,
I hope the darkness holds you close
Enough that you don't feel alone-
When you dream, I hope that
You will dream sweetly, even
If you are not dreaming of me-
When the sun rises in the morning,
I hope that first slant of sunlight will
Kiss you awake tenderly enough that
You will still know how you are loved...
