When You Breathe Upon My World
the very act becomes my inspiration
for it tells me that you live,
your vitality still testifies of art,
of love complete with beauty of its own.
It sings of steadfast faith
that needs no rainbows, naught of
angel wings to carry messages of comfort
to the ones who languish in despair.
Already it is you who passes on the song.
It is you who rides with me
along the crest of every breath,
to music that will bear the sweetness
of it, when mortality cannot.
You it is, who is the song
that resonates within my heart.
Comparisons will have an end, for
When you breathe upon my world,
it must give way and I care not
which way it goes. You live.
Oh God! It can never be the same
and I become the only one
empowered to see.
