When Words Won'T Do
I am tormented by all the splendor
The rocks, the trees
Their green, sometimes colored leaves
I am beset with finding the words
to communicate my thoughts,
To lavish onto the world
How it makes me feel
Words... I don't know the words
They couldn't properly describe
The views from a mountain top
As the clouds swirl by
A hickory crested ridge
Smothered by a summers breeze
Alight with sunshine
The sensation of riding whitewater
Through an ancient gorge, older than the
very mountains
Of the river spilling onto you
As you tame it's wildest waves
The sound of two strings
Coming into tune, then strummed
By someone who has taken the time
To learn the theory
Of every pluck, of every fret
The soft, cool touch of lips
The first time you kiss
The person your heart beats for
And will beat for until it can no more
Words will never fully express
So I will not try, too hard
Instead, I will experience things
So I can say I did
And I can say I lived
