When Time Was Young
I remember playing in the grassy fields
when time was young and skies were bright,
picking berries in the patch behind our house,
enjoying youth to my delight.
I remember learning lessons with my sister
like how to live, to love, to share.
How little did I know that time was young
and that my mind would travel there.
I remember meeting children in the park,
the ones with whom I would play games.
They were but mere humans in my eyes and
we were all one and the same.
Now time's grown old and things have shifted greatly,
earth itself has changed its face.
Days of innocence have flown by quickly,
such joys themselves have been replaced.
I'll remember in the not too distant future,
which its coming won't be long,
just what it felt like living in that era,
when I believe that time was young.
