When They See Her

When they look at her,
They don’t know what she’s going through,
And they don’t know how close she is to breaking.
When they judge her,
They don’t know that she already hates herself,
And they don’t know that she’d give anything to change.
When they laugh at her,
They don’t know that she just wants to be loved,
And they don’t know how much it hurts her.
They will never know.

Dear Meghan, your poem captures the sadness of personal struggle and the victimization of bullying with heartbreaking poetic finesse. A truly moving piece. Congratulations for your success in Seth's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
