When the world doesn’t wait

Timing is cruel, it slips through hands,
A shadow that wanders, no one commands.
The place I stand could be the last,
A fleeting breath from the past.

My birthday glows while others cry,
A candle burns as someone dies.
My happiest hour is another’s pain,
Sunlight falls, then hides in rain.

Somewhere, someone is living my scene,
Thinking the same thoughts I have been.
I could hold a heart for all my days,
And still it wouldn’t be the one who stays.

Perhaps the day I speak my vows,
I’ll pass my soulmate in silent rows.
A glance exchanged, too small, too fast,
A love I’ll miss, though meant to last.

Lost love whispers beneath the sky,
It’s feeling you, no need to ask why.
It’s loving someone on borrowed time,
A perfect heart in a world misaligned.

Even when the world has gone away,
Even when love can’t choose to stay,
I carry you with me, night and day,
In the strange timing that won’t obey.

Though you may never be the one, though it’s always up to fate, it hurts a small bit more knowing the world will never wait.
