When the Flame Is Gone

When the Flame is Gone

Shared destinies through space and time,
we were twin flames on the same psychic vine.
At birth, the same bright star our fates did align,
under Gemini our ruling zodiac Sun sign;
two souls united by the same cosmic lifeline.

Life’s trials strengthened us for one another,
we were kindred spirits always and forever.
Linked by the same umbilical tether,
our hearts and minds mirrored each other;
and the ties that bind would be broken never.

Then suddenly you left me high and dry;
taking off without any kind of good-bye.
Escaping like a haunted butterfly,
you freed yourself of me, seeking the sky.
My twin flame gone, I asked, “WHY, WHY?”
I didn’t understand and I cried, I could only cry.
Today, tomorrow would all be the same,
colorless, meaningless, and I had no name.

Did you think I’d be okay with you free?
Because you’re quite okay without me?
Did you think it’d be easy for me to forget you?
Because it’s easy for you to forget me too?
Did you think it’d be easy for me to pull through?
Because it’s easy for you to start anew?

But I won’t wander with the clouds of Venus,
solitary and adrift ‘cause there’s no us.
Now I know you’re no longer my twin flame,
why should I remember your hateful name?
Today, tomorrow, it won’t all be the same,
colorless, meaningless, worthless,
just because you’re an iceberg...heartless!

On the ship of lost souls, I won’t be a prisoner…
for someday I’ll find love again with my true other.

Congratulations on your placement in the Twin Flame Contest with this powerful expression of loss. It brought up so much emotion in me, not from the loss of a twin but a close sibling. Well done!

What do we do with our broken hearts? Very expertly rhymed, with deep communication of truths. What good are broken hearts? Poetry, Compassion as in service, especially medical, or education at many levels ... we must forgive him (her) and ourselves. I recall, "'tis better to have lost and lost, than not to have loved at all." But I digress ... why? Most important whys? get An Echo: "Wait. Love, love, love ... until it hurts." St. Theresa

Splendid melancholy poem of love loss and rugged determination of hope, Pandita. Heart moving prose. You express well the the death of love and the rebirth of hope. Your pen shines brightly as always. Love and smiles always.
