When the Feelings Gone, and the Heart Dies Down

‘A break is all we need, Love is worth the space and time…’ you said.
I believed your every word, and thinking there’d be a forever,
I dived right in, and following my heart, I ended up at the end of an already broken road,
But that morning when you kissed my cheek and said goodbye,
It broke me, tore me apart, hurt me…. It destroyed me.
I knew that you’d never come back through that door again,
But kept hoping you’d come back. But you didn’t.

So I cried myself to sleep that night, the pillow soaked through by my sorrow,
I couldn’t spare a second without you, the tears wouldn’t stop flowing,
Even though I found solace in the company of friends,
I felt that nobody would love me like you do,
Nobody would ever compare to you,

Flawless you were until the light shifted and darkness emerged from within,
Every time you’d go, every time you’d leave me, my mind didn’t feel like home,
You kept lurking around every corner, whispering my name
But it was nothing more than a figment of my already dead heart,

Every time my heart would reset, I ended up back at the end of everything,
Down on my knees praying for you to come back, but you didn’t,
I ripped my heart out and screamed at it to beat again,
But the feeling had left, the Love already gone,

Must have thought about you a thousand times,
Reliving you and me in a perfect lifetime,
Thinking up excuses justifying your wrongs,
But the inevitable couldn’t be changed, the past never erased,
Although the thought might never have crossed my mind,
You were the one, who plunged the knife right into my heart,
The realization ripped me to the core; I died a thousand deaths that night,
Over and over, every time the reel spun I’d pray you’d come back to me,
But you didn’t.

So I found comfort in the pouring rain outside and a lifeless dead heart that’d never beat again.
