When the Dead Start Visiting

"Elvis came calling last night" I heard senile say
I stopped and did a double take wondering if I had heard right.
She smiled and said "He was with my mom in a pink cadillac"
I said, "But that can't be true! Elvis and your mom have been dead for years now!"
"I Know what I saw! It was Elvis; he even sang my favorite song for me!"

Not knowing what to say....I tried to change the subject
"The leaves are starting to turn and the yellows and reds are bright this year"
"Don't care about those leaves, they make such a mess in the yard!
Has Elvis ever been to your house?" said senile.
"Why no of course not....he died when I was just a little girl.
Did JFK come along for the ride also??"

Senile says, "No silly he has much more important work in the white house!!"

Senile told me yesterday...we had a funeral for my mom and the lord has let her come back to life...I see her every now and then...she went to the family reunion but i didn't get to go. We need to have a family get together(senile's birthday is 10/13) since we didn't get to the family reunion. Life is sweet!!

I do have to accept i like this one, it is a very pointed one and if we all read for another purpose, sounds like a "Psychosis" state... Very much love this one! ;)

Do love this one, so funny, Doris! Thank you for your kind comments always!..Edible bamboo won't have runners and there are quite a number of edible varieties Clumping Bamboo) which grows very slowly. Only the young shoots are edible. I guess your bamboo is a Running Bamboo as yoused also for fences and non edible. ...Have a nice weekend1...Gert

Bravo!! This is sooo funny, Doris. I love the way you gave life to a character named "Senile" and then carried out the thoughts of one with this affliction. Great poem and the ending line made me laugh out loud. If this is for Carol's contest, it will surely be a winner. How clever and creative! Love, Carolyn
