When the Bell Rings

if you are elderly
different or poor
and think that someone
is out to get you
you are right

to those who seek power
you are their daily workout

so if you decide to fly
the white flag of surrender
fly it high
so that all those who seek power
can have a clear target

if you want equality
forget the flag and the so-called rules of democracy
that those in power authored
and agree to the Marquess of Queensberry fight rules
and do not expect those seeking fairness to show up
when the bell rings
