When Passion Was In Fashion

WHEN PASSION WAS IN FASHION

It was passion persuaded by pride
Passion which spurred an embryonic embrace
Two hearts and two souls would not be denied
For passion was the foundation with love as a base

She made me feel as if I had value and worth
After marking my arms with indelible scars
She handed me the key to survival on this planet we call earth
With days of dancing and nights of waltzing with stars

No longer alone I’d finally found a like heart
Someone sensual, sensitive yet strong
Alas, passion persuaded by pride no longer played a part
when one lover no longer loves a mate whom they don’t belong

And so she moved gracefully on to her next consensual conquest
I was left with some porridge but not even one damned bowl
As she made men believe they were a permanent guest
But they didn’t realize longevity was never this woman’s goal
