When Love Reckons For a Second Time
You swept me away into the depths of our own island,
I was young and in love yet craved independence for my life-
Six years passed and you offered me a beautiful diamond,
for you had always longed for me to be your beloved wife.
R e l e a s e your youth to him…
maybe it's meant to be….
Returning a sacred gift was the hardest thing I’ve had to do,
I spent nights wondering if I had made the right choice-
I moved far away and thought it would be easy to forget you,
but without my soulmate my spoken verses had no voice.
R e l e a s e him like a butterfly…
if he comes back it was meant to be…
I just couldn’t stay away too long before I thirsted for your adoration,
my desire became an obsession I had to go find you once again-
I ran as fast as I could to somehow give you a realistic explanation,
for you have always been the line to my life, my intimate best friend.
R e l e a s e your trust to him…
let’s pray it’s meant to be…
I wrote a short verse with a yellow rose and down on bended knee,
I promised my dedication and proposed with promised loyalty-
I cried…you cried…for you always were so in love with no one but me,
and I am so blessed to have always been treated like deserving royalty.
R e l e a s e your heart to him...
it was definitely meant to be…
I came back to you, you accepted me with nothing but loving open arms,
we swore vows under oath to the Lord I’d be yours, you’d always be mine-
In each other’s embrace we will always feel safe and free from any harm,
for true love became destiny when our love reckoned for the second time.
***This is a true story about me and my hubby. He proposed to me after 6 years of dating. I was 21 and so young. I returned the ring, moved out of state then realized he was my soulmate after all. So I proposed to him this time. Happily married for almost 14 years :)***
