When love had a secret

I loved you like I had no choice,
like your name was my only voice.
I believed you without a doubt,
never once waiting to find truth out.

You felt like home inside my skin,
like something safe I could fall in.
I gave you trust without a fight,
thought you were my only light.

Then I saw what you tried to hide,
a second world you kept inside.
Another name, another life,
and I was never meant to be your wife.

No warning came, no final sound,
just pieces of me falling down.
Not loud, not fast, not easy to see-
just something breaking quietly in me.

Now I don't know how to feel,
if what i had was ever real.
You took my trust, you took my air,
and left me standing in "nowhere there".

I don't cry loud, I don't scream pain,
I just feel empty when it rains,
And I still ask the same old line-
Was any of it ever mine?

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
