When Lies Whisper

"Did God actually say, you may not eat of any tree in the garden?" Genesis 3:1 When lies whisper, it’s salt in the sugar bowl. A plus sign becomes minus: such a small thing (one line). A few words (out of order) and my love seems like a cage to you. Who would deceive you? He must be a thief.

Jeanette, your poem masterfully captures the subtlety of deceit. The biblical reference adds depth, emphasizing the profound impact of falsehood. The metaphor of lies as "salt in the sugar bowl" is evocative, turning positives into negatives. The transformation of love into a perceived cage through deceptive words paints a poignant picture. Your words provoke reflection on the insidious nature of lies and the potential betrayal by those we trust. Blessings, Daniel
