When I Was Young

When I was young and just a lad
I learned a lot right from my dad
He taught me how to till the ground
He taught me many things quite sound

I learned to milk the goats we had
When I was young and just a lad
I learned to read the Word each day
Then get down on my knees and pray

My parents taught me how to be
A gentleman for all to see
When I was young and just a lad
I did some work for my granddad

I sanded in his workshop there
His creations were oh so fair
Now growing up was not that bad
When I was young and just a lad
