When I Think of You

This teary feeling
Loiters and lingers
Unconceeding

Stray pieces linger
Eyes with abrupt tears
Sharp sadness loiters

Who are you my dear
To prick memory
For death has left here

Days of history
Etched by blood and sweat
Tell of our story

Odds in a frail bet
You brought us through storms
Boom, ready, get set

Upon cause a norm
Beyond fantasy
Now still fragile form

No guts, no glory
The tales tell of you
Yes we all can see

Bless us with bold hues
We remember you
Even as we queue

You did not know me
Nor did I meet you
Yet tears set me free

When I think of you
Sad sorrow renews
Gratitude mourns you

From time to time I
Spy fond greenery
As city sights ply

Then springs memory
Joy lives monument:
Our poignant story.

Roots in testament:
What is yet to be,
Blooming compliment.
