When I Grow Up...
when I grow up,
I want to be happy,
I want to be creative,
I want to leave a pleasant remembrance,
I want to love,
I want to be loved,
I want to earn my respect,
I want to show my respect,
I want to have my achievements
somehow outweigh my failures
I want a sense of pride, earned,
I want my regrets to be few
I want to wake up smiling
Eager to greet the day
I want to help others
who need it
less fortunate than me
I want to thank
all those who
did the same for me
I want to be able to
forgive all the dirt-bags
who have hurt me,
I want to only be certain
of one thing above all;
That I have done
the best I could
with the cards dealt,
That I have never
purposely hurt people
(unless they really
needed a wake up call!)
you can sum it up
in one phrase
I want to be a man,
a good man.
