When I Grow Up

Written for my 6 year old son, Caedon:
.......
"Guess what I want to be when I grow up?" you ask with a great big smile.
"PAW Patrol, A Builder, Ninja Turtles!"; you change your mind every once in a while.
Your ideas are big, and your dreams even bigger!
You can see hope bright in your eyes.
And whatever you choose, bud, I'll be here to back ya.
Pray the hope within you never dies.
See when I was a kid, I was JUST like you!
Couldn't pick just one thing from another.
But of all of my dreams, and above all else -
I hoped one day that I'd be a mother.
You and your siblings, you granted my wish!
Made number one dream come true!
But if I'm being honest. I lost faith in my magic.
Well, at least until life gave me you!
As we each get older, our souls, they grow tired.
Sometimes other small dreams may fade..
But a new wish of mine is to regain that magic;
When I grow up, I wanna be just like you someday!
