When I Am Sleeping
I find you down a winding road,
your name engraved in cold, cold stone,
I come my love in every season,
I come to lay a single red rose.
When you left me I was broken,
my heart a thousand jagged pieces,
now, I have this emptiness in my soul,
I wear a mask to hide my tears.
You always whisper when I am sleeping,
in the quiet hours of the night,
that is when I know you are still near,
I feel your cold lips pressed to mine.
You always whisper when I am sleeping,
I toss and turn moaning your name,
I wake suddenly was that your voice,
and my tears could fill an ocean,
You always whisper when I am sleeping.
We thought we had a forever,
we thought we had our plan figured out,
we thought we would grow old together,
but, your fate is engraved on that stone.
A million times I have clenched my fist,
asking the sky, why, why, why,
A million times I have fallen to my knees,
weeping why, why, why.
You always whisper when I am sleeping,
in the quiet hours of the night,
that is when I know you are still near,
I feel your cold lips pressed to mine.
You always whisper when I am sleeping,
I toss and turn moaning your name,
I wake suddenly was that your voice,
and my tears could fill an ocean,
You always whisper when I am sleeping.
You always whisper when I am sleeping.
You always whisper when I am sleeping.
You always whisper when I am sleeping.
