When Helping People Was a Simple Choice

There was a time when helping people was an easy thing to do, The right thing to do, Now we ponder to do or not to do, And ask ourselves will it backfire on us if we if we do. There was at time when rolling up your sleeves was all one had to do, If helping was what we decided to do, Now there is so much more to do, Before helping we can start to do. What will opening that gate do? And if we do, What will the dog do? Have we got enough insurance to do what we would like to do? And will the help do, What we think it will do, Or will free drugs, it all undo. Then there is the question, how long should we take to decide what to do, Before the clock decides there is nothing for us to do.

I can remember people came to help in days now past with tools, cleaners(women), maybe some sandwiches and they would go to work doing anything that needed to be done when there was a death or sickness, etc. My mother would bake cake layers and freeze them then if there was some tragedy, she would make a homemade frosting and put a cake together and they would go to see how they could be of service to the family. Now it is not so easy. Thanks for sharing this one today. Sara

Totally different in most cases now. That is why when we get help we treasure it and count our blessings. I wrote this one as a reminder of what should be. Thanks Sara. PS Our eldest daughter turned 32 last Thursday.
