When Friendships Die
Once the bond breaks there isn't anything you can do
but watch as their memories dissolve into nothingness
and you tell yourself to be strong but the tough face
your putting on is merely to prevent the tears
It's been years but it doesn't stop the voices
or the necessary choices that must be made.
And there is no judge or court to appeal these
decisions its up to you to push the dagger in
and let the last of her fade.
But no one likes these positions.
I'd give anything to keep on giving.
To try a little longer and keep poking
what has concave. I tried desperately to save us
but we sunk and were both to blame.
Can I help that were no longer the same?
Once upon a time we were a sound investment
both of us side by side living and enjoying life
as the wind blew our long beautiful trenches
She was the least likely to end up
doing something treacherous at least in my book
but now were ending and the reality of this
has me shook.
So what do you do when friendships die?
Do you put on a mask as your hurting like hell inside?
I fought so hard to keep what was already loosening bolted down.
Let all the bad things fly under the radar as I thought
more and more about keeping my day job.
Eventually I got tired of crying the same old sob.
Sometimes friends have to enter the grave yard
so that a new and improved one can come along.
