When Everything Turns Bright

I sat up all night,
waiting for a reason,
a reason not to leave,
it never came.

The sun came up and I remembered,
i remembered why i came here in the first place,
it wasn't for you,
it was for me.

It was for something,
something that I still don't have,
I guess i stayed so long because I'm a slave,
a slave to hope.

Hope,
its such a hard thing to recapture,
when everything turns bright,
and the night ends.

Everything becomes clear,
the wasted time beckons,
the mystery is no more,
there is no more gamble, yet the odds are against us.

I sat up all night,
I guess I'll be tired again today.
