When Dark Lust, Casts Its Gleaming Eyes On You and Me

When Dark Lust, Casts Its Gleaming Eyes On You And Me

When tears are sharp daggers that pierce a wounded heart
when within midnight terrors, this spirit staggers
ghastly beasts dine upon freshly torn body parts
as tragic love's flings its many poisonous darts.

When piercing cries, through moonlit night's echoing ring
when savage monsters, dance around rot and decay
as dead roses, their wafting aroma burns and stings
ghoulish monsters laugh, crown themselves as golden kings.

When dying moans, within blacken, deep bloody pits
when unholy hell, its gifts this world celebrates
are measures of life, and the dangers of deep hate
such is fodder for evil's grasp, at Hell's first gate.

When heart burns, with its embraced dark and wicked glee.
When dark lust, casts its gleaming eyes on you and me.

Robert, Very intriguing poem of the carnal and the chaste. Strange bedfellows we find, and even stranger beds we make. Well done. -Richard

Thank you my friend. Life even when hard, sad and a bit dark- yields lessons that may help a lost soul learn. Poet especially so, should see, feel and write about such-imho. God bless..

Dark, so what? To those who always want a 'happy dance.' A most deep, excellent sonnet, Robert Which is being captured in my heart of FAVS and I do mean with a capital 'F'. We are blessed to have you! Panagiota xx

Than you friend. You have the poetic insight and wisdom to see the importance of not blinding ones self to this reality that the world operates in darkness and uses that immensely deep cover to garner more innocent victims. Ignoring it to live in a fantasy world plays right into evil's merciless and wicked hands.

Excellent write, my friend! Just went to a wake and this line: as dead roses, their wafting aroma burns and stings...it certainly does - well said!

Thank you my friend. Yes, funerals are needed to give others time to assess and honor the past lives those that are passing on. Myself, I do not enjoy paying such necessary homage, but do so as it is also an important ritual.
