When Childhood Innocence Dies
You can see it in the eyes-
when childhood innocence dies-
walls are built-
to hide the guilt-
when childhood innocence dies.
You can hear it in the lies-
when childhood innocence dies-
first cheating-
then deceiving-
when childhood innocence dies.
It should come as no surprise-
when childhood innocence dies-
strive to keep-
but do not weep-
when childhood innocence dies.
When childhood innocence dies-
parents who are truly wise-
remove guilt-
and all walls built-
when childhood innocence dies.
