When Brownies Are Baking

You needn’t be hungry
Or have a sweet tooth,
You might be a senior
Or still in your youth…

No matter your habits
Or lifestyle or bent
You cannot resist
That incredible scent.

When brownies are baking
That upcoming taste
Makes it hard to refute
It will all go to waist.

Ugh, now I want a brownie, a Duncan Hines one. Funny I should come across your poem tonight because I was at the grocery store today and saw the box on the shelf. I quickly talked myself out of them. :( Your poem is a sign I should go back and retrieve them :) Hooray. BTW they are good with am coffee. (Don't ask how I know, tee hee)

I read the last stanza over and over, due to double negative. Doesn’t “hard to refute it will all go to waste”, mean they’re likely to go to waste?

You won! I was excited to catch the teacher. Too bad.

It does mean that but I used the other spelling and meaning of waist, meaning that if you eat them, you’ll get fat…

Nothing smells as good as fresh-baking brownies, and I cannot resist them for a minute. I want a corner piece, too, for I love the crusty part. Now you've done it, Ilene. Where's the brownies? Where's the brownies? Darn it, where are the brownies????
