When Are you Coming Home?

I’m standing out here on the edge. There’s no real point in trying to pull you from the ledge. I’m waiting here for your return. You’ve made it very clear you think this is not my concern. I’m standing here beneath the sky. If you might want reconciliation, I’m your guy… I’m waiting here, just as I’ve been. Someday, I am certain, you’ll be coming home again. I’m standing out here, patiently. That little figure out there in the distance? It is me. I’m waiting for you, rain or shine. That little voice within your heart? You know that it is mine. I’m standing out here just for you. You know I’ll be here when your wandering is through. I’m waiting out here until then. I know eventually you will be coming home again. I love you and I always will. All you may have done, I love you still. I love you more than you can know. When are you coming home?

The poem's simple language and consistent structure contribute to its emotional impact. The repetition of key phrases and the use of short, declarative sentences create a sense of directness and sincerity.
