When a Poet Passes
Your treasured words have run so deep
Merging with the creative flow where the river weeps
Sweeping across other restless bards minds
Who are denied their sleep
Seeking out some precious wisdom to keep
Then, in a day taken for granted,
Behold, your gone
And its not long
When those who love you
Start to miss you singing your songs
And who knew?
How large the throngs
Of fellow poets
Those you made feel they belonged
To your beautiful family where no words are wrong,
But we know whereby we are called
That we must press on
So those who pass before us
Don't pass in vain
And we must share our Odes in humility
For others to gain
From our sleepless nights
Bearing a pen of hope and pain
And our voice will be heard
On the page and forever remain.
