When, a Cry

Out! Out!!
He cried.
Why is he crying?
His friend refused to leave him
His friend has refused to go!

To him
Suffering is a second skin
Poverty is an identity
Homelessness is a symbol
Hunger is a perfume!
So he cries
That his friend of many years
Should go!

when? He cries
will you leave me
you heartless friend!
just go
and let me be,
he wept as he pled
with his unyielding friend
poverty!!!

He is but one of the many
Who are bosom friends
Of this ruthless entity
Called poverty!

So I join them
To ask
On our behalf
When will our friend
Leave us for good?
