Wheels Are Coming Off

Billions of years spinning so truly can accomplish it,

Even space car Earth only has so many guaranteed miles.

Orbiting around life's heater that even provides light,

What more could all us driven human beings ask for?

Some move slower than others yet final destination arrives,

Each full whirl of planet mother promising one day older.

So sad to watch many rolling dice on green paper dreams,

Burning as surely as hearts that with time will stop.

Stone wheels were at one time so romantically considered,

Then rubber replaced them at speeds breaking love's limit.

Faces like picket fences can blur within a movement,

Especially when one's foot has bones of certified lead.

Life's highway may deflate in a swirling split moment,

It's how you attempt to steer vehicle which truly counts.

Flying down so many paths at rates no one has control over,

Sometimes climbing mountains of flattened deliberate hopes.

"A poem to me is the essence of any thought,
Being built from its foundation into tower scraping sky.
It can fly like no other bird to places never seen,
Even spaceships can only dream of taking its place."
