What's New a New Life

What's new? They ask her. She smiles, looking down, cradling the baby. Everything is, she thinks to herself, constant changing diapers, 2 a.m. feedings, comforting the small cries. They see the dark circles around her eyes, the fact that she is exhausted and hasn't combed her hair. What use to be purses, sunglasses, and make up. Now being replaced with a diaper bag, bottles, and a car seat. She replaces these material things as well as mending the soul. All the voids, heartbreak, mistrust, loneliness... Replaced with unconditional love, and a sense of fulfillment. As she holds what's new...... Not just the child....not just the experiences..... but herself that she has found! So what;s new? They ask her. Everything.
