What's In It For Me
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
What’s in it for me? They ask
They open their treasuries to thieves
With the hope to gain more
They forget what honesty gives
They enter secret doors
What’s in it for me?
Morning, a new task
Night, a new mask
What’s in it for me?
As for Eves
Easily dance to deceit
Silver, gold and alas dust
Morality gone
Dignity torn
What’s in it for me?
For others the baton has been handed from times past
Evil hands soiled with wicked deeds
To others the game is new
What’s in it for me?
Time goes, then the question changes
Painful, gruesome exchange
Who is me?
Why me?
Covenants of vain glory forgotten
Only pain, shame, more vain begotten
What’s in it for me?
Some trace back
And are willing to pick up the pieces
Others, still lured by strange kisses
Slip back into the dark
