Whats Bought Will Break
Don’t buy me diamonds on my watch
Buy me something that can’t be seen
Don’t buy me lies, rather some scotch
For the luxurious life, I’m not too keen
Come to find that watch you bought
Brandishing fine diamonds and gold
Is used to tell time, have you thought?
Maybe you’ve been bought and sold?
For time it tells, the function is such
Lost in the fanciness for what I ask
Fake pedestal, it’s used as a crutch
Guise for emptiness, a clever mask
See, that watch is just a mental bind
Buy me something that always lasts
That petty possession can’t buy time
Anything bought can break like glass
All that you have, just piles to the sky
I want to be free, like a soaring dove
Weightless from the chains I shall fly
What can’t be bought, is surely love.
