What You Will Get
I awake this morning like any another day,
I fear today I just haven’t too much to say.
I have things to do so I shall be on my way,
I have not a clue what will happen today.
The sky is quite cloudy yet it seems bright,
I'm happy to have made it through another night.
All things look new and have their delight,
I feel contentment grow as they come into sight.
Birds fly overhead I can hear them sing.
I want to fly but where are my wings?
It seems I can do so many more things,
I take a rest and I sit on the swings.
I swing back and forth and go up so high,
As the breeze passes by me I feel like I fly.
I return to memories when I was young,
The taste of innocence returns to my tongue.
I drift off to times when life was a breeze.
Long before the world brought me to my knees.
I used to play for hours just climbing trees,
When I wanted something I would always say please.
When you grow older you seem to forget.
Things you don’t do become your regrets.
I reach for the top I'm not quite there yet,
I know what you put in shall be what you get.
