What Xavier Said

My life changed forever after Xavier told me the following…

He has a wooden boat
check carefully for termites
and dry rot
before he takes you out
upon the waters of the lake.

Is a slow leak better
than a fast fill and submerging
dead is dead
but do you want to agonize
the inevitable?

Find a spot of sunshine
even when hopelessness is near,
warmth is sanguine
you will still die
but perhaps you won’t mind

…as much.

Well written and spoken. I'm not a swimmer but I can see the advice would be well received. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. I am guilty of watching too much true crime. I always think of ulterior motives.
