What would you do?
Morning wakes up with questions drumming in my ears
and the base guitar rising havoc in the hemisphere
the questions keep coming, the soloist kept on singing
and the drums kept beating, the guitars kept strumming
and the lyrics got clearer.
What would you do if you had to travel the world without shoes?
and walk on ice in the middle of the night; what would you do if you
had to walk in my shoes and you had to carry the burden of proof with you;
if you had to work with the rising sun, and walk on hot asphalt pulling up weeds
from the side of the street what would you do?
what would you do if you had to work for more than eight years without pay
and a great obstacle is standing in your way?
No body calls you, no body care for you,
but you keep working from day today without lunch or pay
what would you do?
Realty resides in the soul of man, but very few men understand
what do you do when you are surrounded by abusive men and you have no friend?
What do you when you live in a community with gangsters and thieves?
And gunmen waving pistols in the breeze,
if you had to walk and watch every shadow that move, what would you do?
What would you do if you lost connection with your friends?
And you haven’t got a letter, message or phone call, or email from them
It’s like you are living in another world
and no one knows that you are still around.
I have turned the situation around, I turn it upside down
but it doesn't fit for the foundation was built in the religious sanctuary
and it created agony for everybody.
What would you do if I had to sell my only pair of shoes just to be friends with you?
As morning turns to light these questions kept screaming from the outside,
I must have missed the cue, when the universe would speak to you,
But another day has passed and we were reminiscing in the dark.
What would you do if you had to stand up in front of the judge?
to get your wife out of the mud, if she was accused of killing her children
and you know deep down in your heart that she was destined for heaven
and she could not tell five from six, one from two and three from four but you kept
asking questions about that hidden hymn and the broken sin.
The questions kept ringing in my ears and I am convinced that
there is someone in the world that cares
the sun will raise and a miracle
will parachute out of the sky
and I shall not die.
What would you do if you
If you could tear down the barriers around, you
and someone call to say I love you
what would you do?!
