What Would It Feel Like To Fly

How would it feel to fly?
To have wings, and soar across an open sky?
To take off over an ocean or a river, or even a creek?
To be the eagle, so strong and independent, or a butterfly, so small and meek?

To be as light as a butterfly,
With bright colorful wings that flutter quicker than a heartbeat
A tiny torso, and toothpick legs,
Cute little eyes, and sparkly antennae?

Or to be like an eagle, an attitude like a troll,
Eyes that stare into your heart and soul
Flying higher than I could ever imagine, back arched up tight
A palette of brown and white?

Or just to be me, someone who dances, who sings?
A person on the ground, with no wings?
I find being me much more fun,
To not have to stand up to be like anyone.
