Notes About The Poem

What the violet grape said to the purple envelope

a Curtal Sonnet

Does it matter what the violet grape
said to the purple envelope? To wit:
remember the words of romance written
upon your blank page and how they did shape
all that came after, as if twere a skit
and tragedy of a young lass smitten

with the villain of her downfall, darkly
he wove the spells of love, dressed in chiton
disguise of languid hue, hiding the jitte
he would use to subdue her, how sharply,
leaving her stricken!
