What the Eye Sees the Heart Cannot Forget

Secrets,
now memories,
piggybacked through summer.
On handlebars, calloused fingers
steered dirt bikes to an emerald kingdom.
Two boys, on tree stump thrones, ruled worms
unearthed with splendid crowns
of sundrenched leaves,
carefree.

gosh, you did yours so much better than I did. I wrote a tanka not yet entered or shown here. I just love how you did yours, Rhonda. Probably one of the best I have seen yet. For me, it was the best picture too.

The conscious mind extends itself beyond our expected norms and we enter a world composed of reality defused with imagination, where happiness is tentative and so precious as to awe us with its beauty and scare us with its fragility. Well done. Emile.

Such precious memories -- a treasury to pull from in our old age. I loved your soft words -- it created a warm images and brought a boyhood back for me! Thanks for your friendship!

This poem was absolutely fantastic and brought back many memories of my youth when with a bicycle you could go anywhere your feet and imagination would take you. Wonderfully done Rhonda.
