What the Cat Left On the Doormat
How can I understand fear?
A definition? A description?
Evidence? Measurement?
Reason?
I don't understand. I can't
Fear is a rush of hormones
But I don't understand hormones
Fear is my blood. Pulsing my veins
But I can't understand pulse. Or veins
And I don't know what blood is
Yet
Fear is the dark. But I only know dark
I daren't enter the light. I don't know why
I just can't. I really can't
Fear is... A shadow in the sky! Now! Right now!
Do I hide? Do I run? Neither! The unseen blur behind!
I had no chance!
I didn't understand why. I couldn't
But, at the end, I understood fear
And blood
