Notes About The Poem

What Smiles Hide

A gentle heart

        So full of love

Yet no one feels

        It's worthy of

Their admiration

        Care or time

So I am left

        To barter rhyme

Matching words

        To arbitrate

The things I feel

        Be love or hate

So others fawn

        At what I pen

When deep inside

        An endless end

Crafting prose

        To coaxing sighs

While deep within ...

        A slow demise.

To be hard-wired to feel everything deeply, to be full of love and wanting to pour it out on everyone, but feel unrequited. It's hard. Every step we take feels heavy, but with every step, we draw another breath. Fantastic, pragmatic! Bless You!

Amen ... so well-said, Andrew, the price we pay to feel things so much more deeply. Sometimes worth it, sometimes .. I question. Blessings and thanks to you, my friend! :-)

Too often Greg the gentle are mistaken for the weak. Beautifully crafted in its simplicity and rhyming rhythm

Many kind thanks, John, and so very true ... we present the mask we WISH to each day, but so much else going on inside ... especially we "creative" types, a blessing and a curse. YOU are a blessing, however - thank you, Friend! :-)
