What price painless dignity in death

We let no animals suffer,
Yet, humans seldom seem safer.
We let them die in stress
In search of death, painless,
Passive a mercy kill
Is cruel if not evil,
Pray, how long would justice differ?

Poet’s note: In India active euthanasia is not allowed. But exceptions can be made in certain cases as per Supreme Court. Yet, what if high courts fail to ponder on this exception despite medical advice?
