What Price Innocence
Can you put a price on innocence
Or just reminisce about its loss
As we were stumbling into manhood
We seemed to ignore the hidden costs.
When self becomes first priority
We apologize only when caught
Integrity is a commodity
Sincerity becomes all for naught.
Take a step outside your comfort zone
It's alright if you're scared at first
Sometimes it's better to stand alone
Even though you'll be mocked and cursed.
When did we lose our sense of wonder
Our basic creed of what's wrong and right
When did we let our souls be plundered
When did we accept might over right
For those washed clean at baptismal fonts
Who were way too young to understand
If you want to live a righteous life
One day you will have to take a stand
