What Poetry Is

What makes poetry what it is? Poetry is more than just a genre of literature Or merely another branch or offshoot of authorship. Poetry is language in its most sublime form… The language of emotions, and passions, And the expression of the imagination… A uniquely universal language In which the human heart engages To communicate with and about nature, The human experience, and itself. The language of poetry expresses The very image of life in all its various guises. Poetry is, in other words, The elemental stuff our lives are made of. Everything in life that makes it worth remembering, And telling others about, is what makes poetry what it is.

Wonderfully expressed on what poetry is. I write freely from the heart and what I see in nature and humanity. Our words paint a picture in ink. Well said. love phyl
