What of the New Year
So who dares foretell what next appears?
A world peace to quell all nations’ fears,
or a universal turbulence, unprecedented?
As the New Year - lamented or contented,
arrives, we’re left with great uncertainty,
as to the future! No plan nor guarantee
despite the plaints of citizens, world wide,
who plead with world leaders, to bide
their rhetoric, and become more aware
of mankind’s urgent needs, and declare
a moratorium on all vacuous verbosity,
and work towards world peace and unity.
A dire need exists for more co-operation,
between each and every single Nation
to tackle the problems that exist today!
Some think this impossible, but who can say?
But it is imperative, all childish prattle,
accompanied with threats and sabre rattle
ceases forthwith! Threatened action
does naught but engender more reaction,
and exacerbates the already tense situation.
As for the New Year, what does it portend?
A more tolerant world, or one that will end
in nuclear conflagration, and annihilation?
There is so much life offers if moderation
is allowed to rule, and mediation curtails
the proliferation of war. When peace prevails
and nations work together in constructive unity
then the New Year will enjoy a time of serenity.
As for all members of the Internet VN fraternity,
it is my hope you will enjoy a year of prosperity!
That diplomacy allows commonsense to dominate,
and prevent a world wide calamity, ere it is too late!
