Notes About The Poem
How can we really KNOW Christ? It takes faith to really know Him for Who and What He really is. The Bible says: "SO FAITH COMETH BY HEARING AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD." Romans 10:17 Know what that means? It means "Yet faith comes by LISTENING to the Word of God." You can hear something and still not understand it because you didn't listen.To understand something and have it mean anything to you you have to LISTEN. You have to WANT TO KNOW. You can read your Bible every day but if you're not trying to learn anything from the text you might as well be reading Grimms Fairy Tales. For centuries God has reached out His hands to us but many keep arguing and refusing to hear. They fear losing "control" of their lives. They want to be the master of their own soul, captain their own vessel. Well now that's just fine unless you're on a collision course with a hidden reef or something. The way I see it I'm going to sink my ship left to my own devices anyway so I might as well let The One who knows what He's doing handle things.
What Manner of Man Is This
What manner of man is this, they asked,
Whom even the winds obey?
He speaks and calms the angry seas,
Yet He's humbler far than they.
To hear Him speak come thousands,
This man so meek and mild,
And yet throughout His busy life,
He still had time for a child.
They come to Him from miles around,
The sick, the lame, the blind,
And in one day He makes them whole,
Not even a scar could they find.
You've lived and supped with Me, He said,
Together we have slept;
And lo in spite of all I've done,
You don't know Me yet.
