What Makes Me Tick

Cells aplenty, and blood coursing through my veins,
Derivatives of familial DNA strains.

Genetics play an important part, you see,
In the shaping of little old me.

The reading of books and the knowledge within,
Reflects in my speech, my thoughts and mind's ken.

The places I've lived, people I've known,
Have all influenced me as I have grown.

So, what makes me tick you ask of me?
A little bit of this and that, a real mystery.

The title as well as the very concept is novel as well as mystery-filled. A beautifully created couplet. Congratulations on your win!

I really like this one. I am seeing both kinds of entries. Longer ones and some with just the two lines and no more than that. . sure hope yours makes her sit up and go "Ahhhhhh"

Refreshing write this - the truthfulness of the words is thought provoking - genetics and external forces shape us all and play a role in how we react to situations. I like the way you've said - a little bit of this and that--very well penned.
