Notes About The Poem
Our nation was founded on godly principles, shaping our laws and morals. The freedoms we enjoy, born from our Constitution, have inspired other nations. To preserve these rights, we must stay true to their foundation. When faced with tough choices, we often ask, 'What would Jesus do?' While right and wrong aren't always clear-cut, seeking God's guidance through prayer and His Word helps with the discernment. His Word serves as our compass, and ignoring it will undoubtedly lead down the road of destruction . That's why I wrote this poem - to encourage choices aligned with the straight and narrow of God's path, God's heart, and His clear Word, just as Jesus would today."
WHAT JESUS WOULD DO TODAY
**WHAT JESUS WOULD DO TODAY**
What would Jesus do,
What would Jesus say.
How would He feel politically,
What exactly would He do today.
Would He be for right or left,
For the Republican or Democrat,
Would He choose the way we'd choose,
for our nominated bureaucrat.
Would He be influenced by the polls,
or by celebrities or favored popstar,
by the color of skin,
and who they claim they are.
Would He choose based upon the promises,
by boasting or brag,
Or would He care about religious freedoms,
about all people and our American flag.
Would the campaign smearing, and the puppeteering,
Scoffs and scorn, and defamation,
have great influence on His decision,
Who He'd choose to lead or nation.
Would He succumb to the family divisions,
and the loss of the closest of friends,
I think He would know of any hidden agendas
from before all of the confusion began.
What Jesus would do, He would hear His Father,
above all of the political noise.
He would be guided by His Father's Word,
The Word of God would be His poise.
The variables that prioritize an important agenda,
and what should be morally sound,
Should not ever set more precedence,
upon that for which God will frown,
If a man is reputably questionable,
and his character beyond repair,
Jesus one day wrote upon the ground,
in the presence of all accusers there.
We gasp and scorn right along with the world,
when our leaders, are ungodly men,
But as Jesus said of the woman found in adultery,
Throw your stone, those of you without sin!"
Isn't it true that we were all once, unrepentant, ungodly men?
God's arm, not too short to save our souls,
Same God is now, as was then
To know my Word, is to know that I am,
the Truth, the Light, and the Way...
weigh in the balance still now, according to my Word,
between the candidates of your today,
But I Am not like man, my ways are higher,
I have already made my choice,
Would that men would choose to have a godly nation,
than to give place to another's voice.
