What It Did

Four o’clock sure comes quickly
The early bird gets the worm
Meetings at 6:30
I’ve worked so hard for all I’ve earned

I was focused on the future
Trying to build my legacy
Rising to the top
I lost all sight of you and me

{Pre-chorus}

Yea - I lost my mind - The tears you cried
I didn’t think this whole thing through

The dreams we shared - how much you cared
I lost it all when I lost you

{Chorus}

Now I’m staring in the mirror
Wondering what all this life means
All those broken promises
Late night meetings - too many drinks

What started out as good intentions
Now’s got the best of me
I like what I did
But not what it did to me

Those early years in high school
The prettiest thing I’d ever seen
We talked about our future
We laugh we cried - those teenage dreams

But somewhere along the way
I lost her love - I lost my mind
It’s so hard to face the fact
Money can’t pay back lost time

{Pre-chorus}

Now I’m all alone - with no one home
Heaven help me make it through

The dreams we shared - how much you cared
I lost it all when I lost you

{Chorus}

Now I’m staring in the mirror
Wondering what all this life means
All those broken promises
Late night meetings - too many drinks

What started out as good intentions
Now’s got the best of me
I like what I did
But not what it did to me

I was living – living my own dream

I like what I did
But not what it did to me
